It is important to understand that a StockCharts.com account consists of two different components— the Service Level and one or more Data Plans (i.e., exchange fees).

We offer several membership options, including three service levels and multiple data plans. These options allow you to tailor your StockCharts membership to your specific needs.

Service Levels

The Service Level is the combination of tools and services that StockCharts provides. ChartLists, Technical Scans, Annotations, Market Commentary, Larger Charts, etc. are all features of your Service Level.

Each Service Level represents a collection of features and options bundled together. We currently have three Service Levels available to our subscribers:

  • Basic. Our budget Service Level allows you to create larger charts than free users and save your charts to your account (up to 1000 charts in one ChartList). Basic members can also create and run one custom technical scan and up to three alerts to try out these key site features.

  • Extra. Our most popular Service Level, which includes all the features of Basic but with more saved chart storage (250 ChartLists, each with up to 1000 charts) and the ability to create and run many more custom technical scans and alerts than Basic users.

  • Pro. Our premier Service Level has much more capacity than our Extra service. Pro members can save charts in up to 500 ChartLists, plus create even more scans and alerts than Extra members. In addition, Pro users have faster auto-refresh, access to historical data, and more.

For newcomers to StockCharts, we recommend our Extra service as it contains all of our key features, including technical scans and alerts. Note that you can always upgrade or downgrade your Service Level anytime. See the for more information on changing your Service Level.

With any of our Service Levels, you can choose to subscribe monthly or annually. Our monthly renewal option is similar to most other web-based subscription services: you pay for one month of service at a time, and your account will renew automatically at the end of each billing month. With our annual renewal option, you prepay for 12 months of service and we'll give you the 13th month for free!

For pricing and more detailed information on the differences between the Service Levels, check out our .

Our Data Plans

A Data Plan provides data for ticker symbols from a particular country. Regardless of Service Level, all StockCharts accounts come standard with our Free Data Plan, which uses BATS real-time data for the US and delayed data for all other markets.

However, the delayed data for non-US markets will be delayed by at least 15 minutes. Additionally, BATS US real-time data, while real-time, has its limitations. For these reasons, you may wish to customize your account by adding official real-time Data Plans for one or more of the stock exchanges we support.

Learn More.

Prices for the different Data Plans may vary as they reflect the fees charged by each exchange for your use of their real-time data. StockCharts has no control over these fees and passes any Data Plan fees you pay directly onto the appropriate exchanges.

Since the exchanges control these fees, Data Plan fees are billed separately from your Service Level subscription. They are always billed every month, even if you have chosen an annual renewal cycle for your Service Level. Data Plans renew automatically at the end of each billing month. All Data Plan charges are nonrefundable.

You can add or remove Data Plans from your account at any time. If you choose to remove a Data Plan, the change will take effect at the end of the billing month.

Customizing Your Account Options

By combining a Service Level with various combinations of Data Plans, you can create a StockCharts account custom-tailored to your needs. Here are some examples:

  • A US-based investor just learning about the markets can select our Extra Service Level with our free BATS-based US real-time data. Later, they can upgrade to the official US real-time Data Plan as their needs expand.

  • An active Canada-based investor might choose to combine a Pro Service Level account with real-time TSX data and our free BATS-based US real-time data.

  • A UK-based investor may choose to have real-time UK data combined with free delayed data from Canada and free BATS-based real-time data from the US.

Remember, the total cost of your StockCharts.com subscription is a combination of the cost of the Service Level and the cost of whichever combination of Data Plans you select.

For pricing and more detailed information on the Data Plans available, check out our .
