Membership Policies

Refund Policy

We do not provide refunds for our charting service memberships.

For month-to-month memberships, we are unable to provide any refunds.

For annual memberships, you can cancel within 14 days and receive a refund for your remaining unused, whole months of service. No refund will be issued for the first, partially used month.

Finally, we are not able to provide any refunds for annual or month-to-month memberships purchased during one of our Special discounted offers.

We do not provide refunds for our data plan subscriptions under any circumstances.

This policy exists because we are required to pay exchange fees for new users at the time service is provided. Unfortunately, the fees that we pay to the exchanges are themselves non-refundable, which means we are unable to provide refunds once those fees have been paid.

ACP Plug-ins are refundable within the first 10 days.

After 10 calendar days, all ACP plug-in purchases are non-refundable.

We do not provide refunds for all other Add-Ons.

For all paid ChartPacks, Exclusive Commentary, and other Add-Ons (including one-time payments or subscriptions), no refunds will be given.


Sales Tax Policy

Due to changes in sales tax laws, we are now required to charge sales tax for our services in many states.

You can access your latest invoice from the Your Account page in order to see the amount of sales tax that has been charged for your purchase.

We must collect your full address, not just your zip code, in order to comply with sales tax laws.

In order to accurately calculate the sales tax due on your purchase, your full address is needed. There are often multiple sales tax rates per zip code, county, and city. Therefore, more accurate rates are determined based on your full address.


No Aliases

StockCharts.com does not allow the use of aliases, pseudonyms or company names for the official name on a user's account. Our various data vendors require that we collect actual names for compliance purposes. We also must ensure that each account is only used by one individual; having a person's real name associated with their account helps us with that requirement.

In addition, real names must be used if you choose to publish a Public ChartList. If an author isn't willing to put their real name by their list, we are not willing to publish their charts. Real names give the lists credibility and reduce the amount of chart-spamming that might otherwise occur.


Coupon Codes May Only Be Used Once

You can only use a given coupon code once during the course of your membership. You cannot use the same coupon code more than once.

From time to time, we make coupon codes available to various organizations as a way to help their members. You can only place one order with a particular coupon code during your membership.


Accounts Cannot Be Shared

Due to restrictions placed upon us by the various data providers and stock exchanges, we are not able to provide shared accounts. Each StockCharts account can only be used by one person - the person that registered for the account at the time the account was created. Anyone found willingly violating this policy may have their account terminated.


No Real-Time Exchange Data for Financial Professionals

We cannot provide non-delayed charts to “financial professionals” as defined by the various stock exchanges.

We'd love to be able to provide real-time charts to anyone, but the stock exchanges do not allow us to provide those charts to financial professionals. If your job involves trading stocks for others, you are probably considered a professional and must use one of our BATS-based or delayed data plans. We are unable to make exceptions to this rule.


No Compensation for Analyst Absences

We do not provide extensions or refunds for time periods where our technical analysts are unable to post regular commentary articles, regardless of the reason. This includes times when our analysts are on vacation or are otherwise unavailable. Our analysts try very hard to ensure that new articles are posted at least once a day; however, that may not always happen.


Referral Program

Want to be rewarded for spreading the word about StockCharts.com? You're in luck! For every new StockCharts member you refer to us, we will offer you one additional month of service for free.

Here's how it works. When your friend signs up, make sure they enter your User ID (a.k.a. your email address) in the referral box. The box is located on the membership agreement page, which they will see the first time they sign in.

If they remain a current member for two months, a month of service will be added to your account.

Note that in order to qualify for the referral, you need to be an active member. The additional free month does not include any optional paid data plans. You can earn up to 12 free months of service with this program.


Account Information Is Removed After One Year

If you cancel your account, we will archive your saved charts, scans and settings for 1 year from the date of your cancellation. If you rejoin during that year using the same email address, your data will be restored to your new account. After 1 year, your saved data will be permanently erased.
