Public ChartList Policies
No Aliases
StockCharts.com does not allow the use of aliases, pseudonyms or company names for the official name on a user's account. Our various data vendors require that we collect actual names for compliance purposes. We also must ensure that each account is only used by one individual; having a person's real name associated with their account helps us with that requirement.
In addition, real names must be used if you choose to publish a Public ChartList. If an author isn't willing to put their real name by their list, we are not willing to publish their charts. Real names give the lists credibility and reduce the amount of chart-spamming that might otherwise occur.
No Excessive Commercialism
Public ChartLists cannot contain excessive or blatant commercial “sales pitches.”
Public ChartLists are for sharing ideas freely with other people. They are not an advertising platform. While there is a gray area here as to what constitutes “excessive commercialism,” the following examples are definitely over the line:
Mentions of stock-picking performance
Stock-picking accuracy claims
Any mention of pricing for a service or product
Claims of withheld information that require readers to visit another website
Anything that generates lots of complaints to us from readers
Use a Professional Tone
Public ChartList authors must use a professional, courteous tone when writing their commentary.
Obscenity—even implied obscenity—is forbidden.
Public insults and slanderous claims are not allowed.
Anything that causes readers to complain to us will be investigated.
