How To See Indicator And Overlays Values For Specific Dates
When you first enter a ticker symbol into SharpCharts, the resulting chart will show you an up-to-date look at the symbol's recent history. But what if you want to look specifically at past data? For this, you'll need to take advantage of the "Range" feature, which will allow you to set custom timeframes for your charts.
To begin, scroll down to the SharpCharts Workbench at the bottom of the page, and make sure you're in the "Chart Settings" menu. At the top of the workbench, you'll see a list of dropdowns you can use to set basic chart attributes. Click on the dropdown for "Range". This gives you a lot of potential ways to modify how large or small of a period of time you want to examine in your chart. For looking at past charts, though, you'll want to scroll to the bottom of the dropdown menu and click "Select Start/End".
Now, you can see text boxes for setting start and end points, as well as a slider tool underneath them. You can select your start date by clicking the "Start" box, and, from there, either typing in the date (YYYY-MM-DD) or finding it with the calendar. Repeat this with the "End" box for the end date. Another way to select dates is with the slider, which you can click and drag to the days you want.
Once your chart updates, you should now that the timeframe has been changed to the dates you selected. An easy way to verify this is to look for the new end date labeled on the chart. If you're in "Full Quote" view, this will be on the top right; if not, it will be on the left. You can also check the date/time axis, though if you're looking at a chart containing many months of data, you won't be able to see the precise dates that way.
